Frankly Care vs AppleCare+

AppleCare+ covers one Apple device, with Apple's own spare parts and technicians - we can't match that. What Frankly Care does cover is everything you own, across brands: phone, laptop, headphones, coffee machine.

Several things on one account - not one agreement per device

No lock-in and no cancellation period

Danish-language support by phone and in the app

A laptop and a phone - typical equipment covered by Frankly Care

What is Frankly Care, and what is AppleCare+?

Frankly Care

A product from Frankly Insure, an insurance intermediary registered with Finanstilsynet. The risk is carried by Wakam SA, a French non-life insurance company authorised by ACPR. You insure individual things - phone, laptop, coffee machine - in one account, and add or remove them as you go.

A+

AppleCare+

Apple's own product, sold directly by Apple and tied to one specific Apple device. Also available with cover for theft and loss. Note: Elgiganten sells a similar but separate agreement where Tryg Forsikring A/S carries the risk - not Apple. Always check who is behind it.

How the coverage is built

The biggest difference isn't the price. It's the structure.

Én aftale pr. enhed

AppleCare+ is taken out per Apple device. If both an iPhone and a Mac need cover, that's two separate agreements, each with its own price and deductible.

Én konto, mange ting

Frankly Care is modular. You add the things you want to insure, one at a time - whatever the brand. Scan the receipt, and the price is calculated right away.

Skift undervejs

Add or remove individual things as you go, without affecting the rest of your coverage. No lock-in, no cancellation period.

Price and deductible

We're not claiming one is cheaper. Premiums are set individually. But you can compare the structure - and the total cost is always the premium plus the deductible on the day you need the insurance.

Frankly Care

From 10 kr./mo.

Deductible 299-999 kr., depending on your coverage. Paid before repair and not refunded. No depreciation - compensation is based on the price you paid.

AppleCare+

Approx. 55-89 kr./mo.

Deductible 199 / 599 / 999 kr. for screen damage, other accidental damage, and theft or loss respectively. Fixed, known amounts, stated already at the point of purchase. The price depends on the iPhone model.

The figures above are Frankly's own, not an independent measurement. AppleCare+, on the other hand, gives you access to Apple's own network: Apple experts, authorised technicians and original Apple parts. Frankly also repairs first, but uses non-original parts where original ones aren't available. We haven't found publicly stated response times for Apple's customer service, so that isn't something we can compare directly.

A bike, a coffee machine, headphones and other things a household owns

What about everything else?

AppleCare+ covers one Apple device. If your iPhone is the only thing you need to insure, that's fine - but few households own only one thing worth insuring.

The headphones, the coffee machine, the robot vacuum, the games console, a laptop that isn't from Apple. If you own an iPhone and want Apple's own repair network for it, you can combine AppleCare+ on the phone with Frankly Care on everything else. They don't rule each other out.

Which one suits whom?

A+

Choose AppleCare+ if...

You mainly own one or two Apple devices and want Apple's own parts and technicians

You want to know your deductible in advance, down to the krone

Theft has to be covered - Frankly Care doesn't do that today

On those three points, AppleCare+ is the stronger choice.

Choose Frankly Care if...

You own several different things across brands, not just Apple

You want to add and remove things as you go, with no lock-in

You want Danish-language support with a direct phone line

Frequently asked questions

Yes. They do not exclude each other. Many people ask whether it should be AppleCare+ or Frankly Care - but you can easily choose both: AppleCare+ on your iPhone for Apple's own repair network, and Frankly Care for everything else you own, across brands.
Maybe partly. Most Danish home contents insurance policies cover fire, water damage and theft in the home, but accidental damage - such as dropping your phone on the floor - often requires a separate add-on that costs extra per month. Check your own policy before you assume that your phone is already covered for that kind of damage.
With Frankly Care, the insurance must be taken out no later than 30 days after purchase or repair of the equipment, or following an inspection at an approved repairer. A phone you have had for two years can therefore normally not be enrolled afterwards. AppleCare+ can in certain cases be taken out after purchase - check the current terms with Apple.
With Frankly Care you must let us know if you transfer the equipment to someone else, so the policy can be transferred correctly - otherwise cover lapses for the new owner. With AppleCare+, cover is tied to the device, but transfer follows Apple's own terms, which we have not verified here.
Yes. Frankly Insure is an insurance intermediary registered with Finanstilsynet, and the risk is carried by Wakam SA, an insurance company authorised by the French financial supervisory authority (ACPR). The insurance is covered by Garantifonden for skadesforsikringsselskaber - in other words, ordinary, regulated insurance.
With Frankly Care you insure each item separately, and the price depends on what you add - both are calculated together in the app in under a minute. With AppleCare+ you take out one separate agreement per device, so you pay twice. We cannot state an exact total price without knowing your specific devices.
Frankly Care has no lock-in and no cancellation period - you cancel whenever you want, directly in the app, and pay only up to the stop date. For AppleCare+ we have not found publicly stated cancellation terms from Apple - check your order confirmation or Apple's support.
