## AppleCare+ vs Frankly Care: one Apple device or everything you own on one account?

At checkout on Apple's Danish web store, the question comes up before you pay: do you want to add AppleCare+? It is an easy yes when the alternatives look like work. But AppleCare+ covers one Apple device per plan, and very few people own only one thing that can break. With Frankly Care, your phone, laptop, tablet, console and camera sit on one account, and the brand does not matter.

### What is AppleCare+?

AppleCare+ is Apple's own service and insurance plan for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and AirPods. It covers accidental damage, gives you access to Apple's support and includes battery service once capacity drops below 80 percent. Apple also covers hardware faults at no service fee for as long as the plan runs. For iPhone, there is a version that also covers theft and loss. You have to add it with the purchase or within 60 days, and each device needs its own plan. If a Danish retailer such as Elgiganten offers you "AppleCare" at the till, it is often a different plan with a different insurer behind it, so check who carries the risk.

### What is Frankly Care?

[Frankly Care](https://franklyinsure.com/en/coverage/care) is our electronics insurance. It covers your things against accidental damage, the everyday kind: drop it, spill on it, crack it. You can cover phones, laptops, gaming PCs, tablets, consoles, cameras, drones, smartwatches, monitors and VR headsets, and the brand on the box does not matter. You add an item by photographing the receipt, see the price straight away, and are covered [from DKK 10 a month](https://franklyinsure.com/en/pricing). The policy has to be taken out within 30 days of purchase, and the item must have been bought new in Denmark and be no more than four years old. The risk is carried by Helvetia Global Solutions, an insurer supervised by the Financial Market Authority of Liechtenstein.

### One device or everything you own

AppleCare+ follows the device. With an iPhone, a MacBook and an iPad, you have three plans, each with its own price, deductible and end date. Your PlayStation and your camera cannot be added at all. Apple does sell a bundle, AppleCare One, but not in Denmark.

With Frankly Care, everything sits on one account: you add new things when you buy them and remove what you sell or pass on. If your [bike](https://franklyinsure.com/en/coverage/mobility) should be covered too, it lives on the same account with its own cover. Switch from iPhone to Android next year and you add the new phone to the same account.

### Cover: faults, accidents and theft

Frankly Care covers accidental damage: unintended breakage or destruction that makes the item unusable, including damage from fire and liquids. Faults in the product itself are the manufacturer's job and, under Danish law, the retailer's for two years from delivery, with or without AppleCare+ or Frankly Care. If you want cover against breakdowns after those two years, extended warranty can be added. AppleCare+ covers accidents and the battery, and Apple covers faults alongside it for as long as the plan runs. Exactly what is included with us is in the [policy conditions](https://franklyinsure.com/en/conditions), which you see before you add the cover.

Theft is where Apple has something we do not offer today. AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss covers a stolen or a lost iPhone against a DKK 999 deductible, but only for iPhone. Frankly Care does not cover theft. If that matters to you, it belongs in your home contents insurance, or you combine AppleCare+ on the phone with Frankly Care on everything else.

Apple's prices are from Apple's pricing appendix for Denmark as of 9 September 2026, see [Apple's AppleCare+ terms for Denmark](https://www.apple.com/dk/legal/sales-support/applecare/applecareplus/dk/).

On AppleCare+, an iPhone, a Mac and an iPad come to roughly DKK 160 to 190 a month together, because every plan is paid separately. With Frankly Care the three sit on one account, and you see the price of each one as soon as you photograph the receipt. You know the deductible before you add the cover, and a cracked screen carries the same deductible as a phone that is completely broken. With Apple, the amount depends on what broke, and on a Mac it can reach DKK 1,899.

### Lock-in and term

AppleCare+ comes either as a fixed-term plan, paid up front and ending after 24 months (36 months on Mac), or as a monthly subscription (annual on Mac). You can cancel, but the plan is tied to the device it was bought for and cannot be moved.

Frankly Care runs month to month with no lock-in and no notice period. Cancel mid-month and you only pay up to the day you stop, and you can do it directly in MobilePay. The policy renews automatically for as long as you pay, for up to five years, or 36 months for a smartphone. You have a 14-day cooling-off period, and a claim in the free first month is covered even if you change your mind afterwards. If the product is insured through a leasing or rental agreement, different rules apply.

### When something breaks

With AppleCare+, you book a slot with Apple or an authorised service provider, pay the service fee and get the device repaired with original parts. Screens and back glass can be repaired as often as you need, often the same day, and Apple can send a replacement device so you are not left waiting. There is no Apple Store in Denmark, so in practice that means Apple's online service or an authorised repairer.

With us, you [report the claim online](https://franklyinsure.com/en/claims) or on +45 70 60 44 40, and a person typically gets back to you within 30 minutes. Policy documents and all communication about this policy are in Danish. We repair at an approved repairer, with original parts where possible, or replace the item with one of equivalent specification. A refurbished replacement comes with at least 90 days' warranty. Compensation is capped at the price you paid. You can claim twice per policy year, and we cover transport within Denmark.

Remember to switch off Find My iPhone before you send the phone in, or the claim will be delayed.

### Which one fits you?

#### When AppleCare+ is the better fit

You own only Apple

You want faults, battery and support in one place with Apple

Your iPhone needs to be covered when it is stolen or lost

#### When Frankly Care is the better fit

You own things from several brands

You want to pay month to month with no lock-in and get the first month free

Above all, you want cover for accidents: the phone on the tiled floor, the coffee in the keyboard, the controller down the stairs

If you already have home contents insurance elsewhere, check what it covers outside the home. Contents insurance typically covers fire, water and burglary, but rarely the phone you drop on the street.

Want to see what your things cost to cover? It takes under a minute.

Is AppleCare the same as AppleCare+?

No. AppleCare is Apple's standard warranty and support that comes with the product. AppleCare+ is the paid add-on that also covers accidental damage against a service fee. When people compare Apple's cover with insurance, they mean AppleCare+.

Can I have both AppleCare+ and Frankly Care?

Yes, on different items. You can, for example, keep AppleCare+ on your iPhone and Frankly Care on your other devices. On the same device it makes no sense, because we do not cover damage that is already covered by another plan.

Does Frankly Care cover an iPhone or a MacBook?

Yes, on the same terms as any other brand: iPhone as a phone, MacBook as a laptop, iPad as a tablet and Apple Watch as a smartwatch.

What if my Mac stops working on its own?

For the first two years, you go to the retailer under Danish consumer law. After that, it is AppleCare+, or extended warranty added with us, that covers breakdowns.

Can I insure a phone I bought abroad or have had for a while?

Only if you add it within 30 days of purchase and it was bought new in Denmark, or refurbished directly from the manufacturer or an approved dealer. It must be no more than four years old, and a phone bought abroad cannot be added. Apple gives you 60 days from purchase.
